About

Independent intelligence for the restaurant industry.

The Food Service Research Institute (FSRI) is an independent research organization producing trend, operator and consumer intelligence for the restaurant and foodservice industries.

What we do

FSRI tracks 1,840 operator menus, fields a quarterly consumer panel of 4,200 U.S. adults, and maintains a P&L benchmark with 612 multi-unit operators. The institute synthesizes those data sources into research reports, weekly trend trackers and analyst commentary used by executives, operators, suppliers and investors.

Who we serve

Our audience is operational. FSRI research is written for the people who actually decide menu direction, capital allocation, technology investment and brand positioning inside restaurant companies — not for general business audiences.

How we work

FSRI is funded by subscriptions, syndicated research licenses, and a small number of custom-research engagements where the client does not control findings or framing. We do not accept sponsored editorial, and we publish our methodology openly.

The team

FSRI's analyst team combines former operators, supplier executives, equity researchers, and dedicated foodservice research practitioners. Our analysts have run restaurant brands, sat on supplier P&Ls, and modeled the category from the public-equity side.
